This assignment aimed to assess: (i) the impacts and dependencies of industrial parks on water resources, (ii) water-related risks of the river basin connected to industrial parks using the WWF Water Risk Filter tool, and (iii) opportunities for water saving and water circularity in the highest water-consuming factories within industrial parks, as well as industrial water symbiosis solutions among factories and across the entire industrial park, including preliminary cost-benefit analyses of these circular economy opportunities.

Assessment reports on water risks and water circularity solutions for two industrial parks were completed, accepted, and highly appreciated by the client, covering the following activities:

  • Identifying water-related impacts and dependency risks at the industrial park level;
  • Assessing wastewater piping and treatment infrastructure systems in the two industrial parks;
  • Conducting rapid assessments at three major water-consuming factories within the industrial parks to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and promoting water circularity; and
  • Identifying opportunities to improve water-use efficiency and promote water circularity through industrial symbiosis.
