The study on “Textile sector assessment and feasibility study to implement wastewater reuse in industrial parks” aims at assessing the potential for recycling and reuse of wastewater for the textile sector and identifying opportunities to implement public-private-partnerships (PPP) projects as per Law of PPP investment (approved by the National Assembly on 18th June 2020 and valid from 1st January 2021).

Main activities of the assignment

  • Rapid assessment of wastewater treatment, recycling and reuse practices in Vietnam textile industry;
  • Development of 2 feasibility reports detailing the wastewater to recycling/reuse potential in industrial parks; and
  • Summary of PPP models in wastewater recycling/reuse projects and recommendations for Vietnam.

Activities in 2021

  • Fulfilled research on the current state of the industry from documents and survey information from enterprises;
  • Completed the feasibility study on recycling – reuse of water at Pho Noi B Textile and Garment Industrial Park;
  • Accomplished case study report on PPP investment projects in the field of water treatment with 9 projects with models closest to the research object of the bidding package.

Next steps

  • To finalize the feasibility study on recycling – reuse of water in Phong Dien Industrial Park; and
  • To present research results to the Multilateral Working Group on “Urban and Industrial Water Pollution” in Vietnam.
