The project supports universities in Vietnam and Laos in training engineers, bachelors and technicians on plastic recycling and waste management; connecting academia and industry in waste management; improve the ability to be recruited after graduation and encourage startup efforts of graduates and university staff.

Main activities of the project

  • Develop a set of training materials, modernize the existing curriculum;
  • Established two training and research centres on plastic recycling, located at Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City and Laos National University;
  • Establish a training network on waste recycling;
  • Organize training courses for businesses, lecturers and students in the field of plastic management and recycling.

Activities in 2019

  • VNCPC joined with the project’s partners in compiling the teaching materials for training courses on recycling and plastic waste management. The curriculum consists of 17 chapters with up-to-date information on recycling techniques, related policies and waste management, as well as experience of several countries around the world.
  • 2 VNCPC staff participated in a training-of-trainer course held by the project at Technical University Dresden (Germany), including the study visit at a plastic waste sorting plant in Dresden.

Activities in 2020:

  • Joined with the project’s partners to finalize the teaching materials for training courses on plastic waste recycling and management. The curriculum consists of 17 chapters, with up-to-date information on plastic recycling techniques, related policies, and waste management, as well as experiences of several countries around the world;
  • Participated in the Training of Trainers course for the project, which was held online on 14th – 30th September 2020;
  • Participated in the closing ceremony of the project and introduced the Centre for Training and Research on Recycling and Testing of Plastics, which is hosted by the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City.
